4x4 Introductory
4x4 Introductory Course
A perfect start for those with basic or no off-road experience. This morning session also includes lunch. Our maximum ratio on our standard Introductory is 3:1 – If there is less than a 3:1 ratio, you may finish a little earlier.
Please note: A Full driving license is required.
A 1:1 Introductory Course is also available. If you prefer a bespoke course, our 1:1 Introductory is ideal for anyone interested in gaining more in-depth techniques & understand the skills needed when off-road driving.
Learning The Basics
On arrival you’ll meet our instructors who take a friendly step-by-step approach starting with a brief safety chat over a cuppa; then quickly move from the classroom to the site, where walking the course first is an important starting point. An instructor will be in the vehicle at all times.
Our half-day Introductory course covers basic techniques & is intended for occasional off road driving from mild to moderate conditions; the perfect introduction to off-road driving. During this morning session we will progressively increase the challenges enabling you to gain the skills to successfully negotiate these obstacles whilst driving off-road in a standard vehicle.
1:1 courses allow for a tailored 4×4 experience. Based on individual ability where drivers get lots of off-road practice. Enjoy an intensive 1:1 half-day or bring a companion for a 2:1 experience. For further Info. call 01594 834666
The Highs and lows
Assessing the route on foot, prior to driving is vital when taking a 4×4 vehicle over undulating terrain, especially as visibility is restricted once in the driving seat.
It’s then into the vehicles to learn the different techniques required to drive off road. Hands on experience is gained in high and low ratio gearbox.
Getting stuck in
The introductory circuits gradually increase in difficulty from muddy, undulating terrain to mild declines/inclines & moderate gullies and side slopes.
A practical demonstration and discussion takes place to highlight the use of the differential lock and 4wd systems. Drivers will then be fully aware of vehicle limitations and what to look for when negotiating off road conditions.
Chill, chat & lunch
We meet back to the classroom for a well-deserved break & a sandwich lunch. This course will give you the basic experience to progress on to more advanced levels.
Attendees wishing to stay for the rest of the day, therefore upgrading to the Advanced Course, are welcome to discuss this possibility with one of their instructors during the morning.
We had an excellent morning's Off-Road experience with our instructor, Dave. He has bags of passion for Off-Road and is extremely proficient at it, whilst also having a great manner and instruction style for drivers with less experience. We loved the experience having never done Off Road before. We learned so much! Highly recommended!
